Being OK with letting go
Sometimes, letting go is the right thing to do no matter what the cost ...

At some point in your life, you’ll probably encounter a situation or an individual that makes you feel bad about yourself in some way.
You may feel the need to please this person, or to correct a situation. You may be a self styled peacemaker or ambassador, you may be the one who never wants to rock the boat.
But at some point though, either the situation is going to dissolve, or the individual is going to cross a line from which there’s no recovery; no going back. A breaking point of sorts.
And when this happens—when a certain boundary is crossed or no longer respected, even though you’ve set it and defended it, it is perfectly OK to sever ties.
It may not feel like it at the time, it may not feel OK, but with hindsight, yes, it’s OK to walk away.
It’s OK to let go.
It’s OK … it’s healthy … to set boundaries, to defend them, and to act if those boundaries are not acknowledged, adhered to, or respected.
There have been times in my life when I’ve stuck with something or someone way beyond where it was healthy for me emotionally or psychologically. And I’ve had people blame me for their inability or unwillingness to accept my boundaries (classic gaslighting).
Again, it’s OK to walk away.
It’s better for you, and it’s healthier in the long run.
