Gary Bloomer | SHAKING THE TREE # 339
Has a piece of orchestral music ever moved you to tears?
Have you ever heard or felt something that touched you so deeply emotionally that it struck all sorts of chords that you can’t explain?
A favorite piece of music of mine is The Flower Duet by Delibes, from the opera Lakmé.It’s sung in French and although I have no idea what the song is about, it gets me every, single, time:
Likewise, there’s a scene in an episode of the British science fiction television drama, Dr. Who, where the Doctor goes back in time and meets Vincent van Gogh, who, improbably agress to accept a ride into the future, where Vincent finds himself at the Museé D’Orsay in which there’s an exhibition of his paintings and in which the exhibit’s curator gives his assessment of Vincent’s work.
These are just two examples of ways in which I’ve been touched, emotionally; ways in which I’ve felt something deep. Some emotional connection. I can’t explain why or how. All I know is that for me, the feelings have been visceral.
What examples can think of?
As always, thanks for reading.
